“I don’t think artists have particularly bright ideas…”
- Willem de Kooning
"In considering a title for this exhibition of my recent work, I came to the conclusion that I didn’t have much to say about what they were paintings of. In terms of “content” they are basically prosaic and illustrational. They depict the stuff we all experience seeing (people, trees, buildings).
What keeps me returning repeatedly to the activity of painting is the seemingly endless supply of options for lush mark making and strategies for adapting these marks to representational ends." (Langstroth, 2009)
