Lilly's sculptural work illustrates the multitude of intricate textures, colours and forms found in the fabric of biological landscapes, reflecting her continuous inspiration by nature. Her utilization of various metals and woods, as well as glass and mirror systems contributes to the interplay of light and shadow integral to the work. One of the main concepts explored in Lilly's work is how these ever-changing biological forms embody dynamic phenomena created by the inter-relatedness of organic and inorganic matter. New to this latest series is the addition of homegrown crystals. Lilly also implements live plants in her artwork in an exploration of the idea of sustainable art that grows and changes over time. Although ideas originate in nature, her work is taken out of the literal descriptive context. It assumes outlines that echo Lilly's interest in the endless cycle of being - the renewal and flow of energy through portals and pathways of different levels of existence.
Lilly Otasevic's work is held in numerous international private and corporate collections. Recently, she was commissioned by Minto Urban Communities to create a large-scale sculpture for a major residential development located in Toronto. Exceeding all expectations, the developer extended the commission to include exterior sculptural urban furniture poised to play an integral role in the overall landscape design of the project. This sculptural complex is slated for completion in the fall of 2008.
